Black Beach Wedding | North Shore Minnesota

Kaitlin and Alex decided an intimate wedding on the North Shore of Minnesota would perfectly suit their laid back personalities. Neither wanted a wedding that would cause stress, and neither love being the center of attention. So they invited their immediate family and exchanged vows on the black sand beach, known as Black Beach, in Silver Bay.

Following the ceremony they headed to Lemon Wolf Cafe for a private dinner and the most delicious cheesecake ever created! Then Kaitlin and Alex snuck away with Trisha of Xsperience Photography to Palisade Head Overlook. They shared a sweet first dance under the pastel sky before exploring the beautiful Lake Superior landscapes from above. After the sunset they headed back to Cove Point Lodge in Silver Bay where they sat around a fire on the deck completed with S’more’s and champagne.

Why did you choose an elopement or small destination wedding?

When thinking about having a wedding, we both wanted something small and intimate that really focused on being with our families.

Why did you pick the North Shore of Minnesota?

We picked to have our wedding at the North Shore because it’s an absolutely beautiful place and we love traveling there. We love the outdoors and Northern MN is one of our favorite places to be.

How was your experience working with Elope West?

Elope West made planning our wedding a breeze! Kari and Trisha are so easy to work with and such kind people. We didn’t have to worry about a thing knowing they had everything handled. They made our special day even more amazing than we could’ve ever imagined. We can’t thank them enough!

Do you have any advice for engaged couples planning a wedding?

Its your day, you can do it however you want, wherever you want! Be open to any ideas, be flexible, and just have fun with it!

What was your favorite part about the wedding day?

I don’t think we can pick just one part of the day that was our favorite. It was seriously the BEST DAY EVER! Overall though, we think just the simplicity of it all while still including all the special details that we really wanted for our day. There were no stressful moments at all! It was such a relaxing day filled with fun, family, and was just an absolute adventure!
