A Bed & Breakfast Elopement | Sable Inn, Foley, MN
Join us as we head to Foley, Minnesota for this Springtime Bed and Breakfast Elopement. Sable Inn provides its guests with accommodations that will surely make you want to stay an extra night. The food is delicious, the small lake is intimate and private, the house is absolutely stunning, and the trees provide a woodsy backdrop if that’s your style. Oh, and did I mention the wrap-around-porch?!
This elopement features two dresses. One was a romantic wedding gown and the other a vintage thrift shop find to compliment the historical home and her soft, vintage hairstyle and makeup done by Arbor Hair Studio in Waite Park, MN. The kids joined them in the woods for the vows and stayed for a few photos, then headed home so the bride and groom could have a romantic evening together. They were able to enjoy a delicious cake made by Emily Grace Cakes, followed by dinner near the lake with pretty cattails as the backdrop. White Loon Events, based near Minneapolis, MN, put the most delicate, vintage touches on the cake and table setting. She also shared her floral talents with us creating a beautiful Spring bouquet for the bride and a floral piece for the canoe. Did I mention the couple went canoeing?!! As if this isn’t enough to make you fall in love with this intimate elopement, we ended the evening with a campfire, s’mores and the groom serenading his sweetheart with his guitar. Sigh.
FUN FACTS ABOUT SABLE INN BED & BREAKFAST
- I (Trisha) lived in the basement as they renovated the upstairs and my amazing barrel horse now retires in the pasture.
- It took 10 years to restore the old house, because owners, Bill & Sandy Stevens did most the work themselves while both working a full-time job.
- John Foley moved to the area in the 1800’s and after generous donations to the community and influencing growth in local businesses, the town was named after him in 1900. He built this house in 1901 as a gift to his sister.
- Bill and Sandy purchased the home in 2007 and had it moved to their property just West of Foley. It was raised up on jacks, and slowly re-located at 4am to avoid the highway traffic.
- They set the house on a brand new basement they rented out (to only real cool people;) to help pay for the cost of renovations.
- The new highway needed dirt so Bill and Sandy allowed them to use their land, which in return, created the perfect man-made lake to entertain their guests.
